We process your personal data on the following legal grounds: (a) Contract — processing is necessary to provide the ride-hailing service you have requested; (b) Legitimate Interests — fraud prevention, platform security, and service improvement; (c) Legal Obligation — complying with financial record-keeping and regulatory requirements under Gambian law; (d) Consent — where we ask for your permission for optional features such as marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
We process the following categories of personal data: Identity data (name, phone number, profile photo); Location data (GPS coordinates during active use); Transaction data (ride history, fares, payment method details); Device data (device identifiers, OS version, app version); Communications data (in-app messages and support interactions); Driver-specific data (government-issued ID, vehicle registration, KYC documents).
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights over your personal data: Right to Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you; Right to Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data; Right to Erasure — request deletion of your account and personal data where no legal obligation requires us to retain it; Right to Restriction — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances; Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format; Right to Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests. KEKE RIDE's core infrastructure and data are stored and processed within cloud services that may operate servers outside The Gambia. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place — including standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections — to maintain the same level of protection required under applicable law.
Account and profile data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 90 days of account closure on request. Ride history and GPS logs: retained for 12 months after each trip for safety and dispute resolution, then anonymised. Payment and financial records: retained for a minimum of five (5) years to comply with Gambian financial regulations. KYC documents (drivers): retained for the duration of the driver relationship and for a minimum of two (2) years after deactivation.
KEKE RIDE uses automated systems to match passengers with drivers, calculate fares, and detect fraudulent activity. These processes involve automated decision-making that may affect your use of the platform. You have the right to request human review of any automated decision that significantly affects you. KEKE RIDE does not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 years of age. If you believe a child has registered on the platform, please notify us at info@keke-ride.com and we will delete the account promptly.
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area and use KEKE RIDE while visiting The Gambia or communicating with us from the EU/EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may apply to the processing of your data. In addition to the rights listed in Section 4, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. Our processing of EU/EEA resident data is conducted in accordance with GDPR principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity, and accountability.
We implement the following technical and organisational measures to protect your data: TLS encryption for all data in transit; AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest; role-based access controls limiting staff access to personal data; regular security audits and penetration testing; incident response procedures for data breaches. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.
