This policy applies to all individuals who apply to drive on the KEKE RIDE platform and to all active driver-partners. It outlines the screening, verification, and ongoing conduct standards that every driver must meet to operate on the platform.
To be approved as a KEKE RIDE driver you must provide: (a) a valid government-issued national ID card or passport; (b) a valid Gambian driving licence (category appropriate for keke/tricycle operation); (c) current vehicle registration documents; (d) valid vehicle insurance certificate; (e) a recent utility bill or other proof of address no older than three (3) months; (f) a clear, recent photograph of yourself and of your vehicle.
All documents are subject to Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. This includes cross-checking your national ID or passport against official records, confirming that your driving licence is valid and has not been revoked or suspended, and verifying that your vehicle registration matches the vehicle you intend to operate. KEKE RIDE reserves the right to request additional documents if there are discrepancies.
KEKE RIDE conducts a criminal record check on all driver applicants through available official channels. Applicants with convictions for violent offences, sexual offences, robbery, fraud, or drug trafficking will not be approved. Applicants with other criminal records may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The outcome of all background checks is confidential and handled in accordance with our Data Handling & Compliance Policy.
Your keke (tricycle) must pass a basic roadworthiness inspection before you are approved to take rides. This includes: functional brakes and lights; no significant structural damage; tyres with adequate tread depth; a seatbelt (or approved restraint) for the driver; a functional horn; and up-to-date road tax. Vehicles that do not meet these standards will not be approved until defects are corrected and a re-inspection is passed.
Driver approval is not a one-time process. KEKE RIDE performs the following ongoing checks: annual document re-verification (licence, registration, insurance); periodic in-app rating reviews (drivers falling below a threshold rating may be suspended pending a review); incident-triggered reviews following any safety report or complaint; and spot inspections of vehicles as part of our quality assurance programme.
An application will be rejected if the applicant: provides false or forged documents; fails the criminal background check criteria set out in Section 4; cannot produce a valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category; has a vehicle that fails the safety inspection and is not repaired within the permitted timeframe; or has previously been permanently deactivated from the KEKE RIDE platform.
An active driver account may be suspended or permanently deactivated if the driver: receives a sustained rating below the minimum threshold after a review period; is found to have committed fraud, fare manipulation, or route deception; is the subject of a verified serious safety complaint; allows another person to use their KEKE RIDE driver account; has their driving licence revoked or suspended; allows their vehicle insurance or registration to lapse; or violates the KEKE RIDE Terms of Service.
If your application is rejected or your account is deactivated, you have the right to appeal the decision. Submit a written appeal to info@keke-ride.com within 14 days of receiving the rejection or deactivation notice. Appeals will be reviewed by a KEKE RIDE compliance officer within 10 business days. You may provide additional evidence or documentation in support of your appeal. KEKE RIDE's decision following an appeal is final.
Approved drivers are expected at all times to: treat passengers with courtesy and respect; follow all applicable traffic laws; not operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs; not use a mobile phone while driving; not refuse a ride based on a passenger's destination, gender, ethnicity, religion, or disability; and report any safety incidents through the app immediately.
KEKE RIDE may update this Driver Background Check & Standards Policy to reflect changes in regulation or platform requirements. Significant changes will be communicated to active drivers through the app. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
